Project Background and Objectives
To address growing water resource risks and ensure long-term operational sustainability, Swire Coca-Cola facilities implemented a structured water risk management process aligned with Coca-Cola’s global water stewardship framework. The objective was to secure reliable, high-quality source water supplies by systematically identifying vulnerabilities and implementing risk mitigation measures at the facility level.
SIET’s Role and Services
SIET was engaged as a water resources specialist to support multiple Swire Coca-Cola beverage facilities. The scope of work included:
- Site visits and review of hydrological, operational, and water use data
- Assessment of source water vulnerability, including quantity, quality, and reliability risks
- Identification of water management and operational risks affecting production sustainability
- Evaluation of external pressures such as competing water users, climate variability, and regulatory constraints
- Development of practical and site-specific risk mitigation strategies
- Preparation of water management plans to support long-term water security and responsible water use
Outcomes and Value Added
SIET combined field-based assessments with data-driven analysis to provide facility-level insights into water risks and vulnerabilities. The resulting water management plans supported improved decision-making, strengthened operational resilience, and aligned facility practices with corporate water stewardship objectives. The assignment contributed to enhanced awareness of water-related risks and practical actions to safeguard water resources critical to beverage production.
